While visiting the Transformer exhibit at the National Museum of the American Indian, there were many pieces that made me stop and think about them. However, Kevin McKenzie’s art work “Father, Son, Holy Ghost.” (2015) was one of those works that left you speechless. When I first walked into the sculpture my first impression was being very curious about what three buffalo skulls with neon lights represented. Nonetheless, perception is the base of judgement, and understanding that in a museum of American Indian, buffalos were those animals that those tribes hunted helps you realize that these skulls in a wall with neon lights was some kind of highlight of what buffalos means to this people. After doing some research, my first analysis on the artwork was not correct 100%.
